Digital Diary

Very interesting lecture. Love some of the Trent Parke photographs. Challenged again by my different camera & lens capacity. I have 3 lenses: 50mm (f1.8), 18-55mm (f3.5-5.6), and 55-300mm (f4.5-5.6). For most shots I have been using the 18-55mm lens. I was struggling to understand at the time why the maximum aperture on this lens set at 50mm was 5.6. I read afterwards about variable aperture lenses (http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Learn-And-Explore/Article/gll2rs05/zoom-lens-maximum-aperture-fixed-and-variable-apertures.html) which was very helpful. For this reason, in Shot 3 1 adjusted the settings to F13/F5.6 to ensure a similar range of values. Similarly, in Shot 4 I used the 55mm lens on the same settings.
Other challenges faced were the extreme glare encountered at the beach. This made it very difficult to see through the viewfinder clearly. Perhaps an umbrella would be good in this situation.
